GREEN COLLAR TASK FORCE

The Green Collar Task Force is a one of its kind in Region 20. The GCTF is a collaboration of representatives from St. Lucie County Government, WorkForce Solutions, a non-profit organization, and a consortium of eight trade unions.


GCTF 'WINGS' Project

"Workfore Innovative New Generations Solutions"

The Green Collar Task Force 'WINGS' Project will train new and employed workers in green-collar building/construction jobs to meet the growing labor needs of green technology businesses within the treasure coast, including Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee Counties.

Classroom Training

Most trades offer a 4-year apprenticeship program and include 8,000 on-the-job training hours along with the craft required classroom hours. Classes will be held 2-3 nights a week and on weekends. During the apprenticeship term an apprentice will be eligible to receive free medical insurance. After completing all the requirements of a 4-year program, the participant will receive a journeman certification from the United States Department of Labor. Upon receiving a journeyman certification, the participant will receive 100% of journeymans scale as well as the same medical insurance they had while an apprentice.
